National Day of Action – List of Actions

  • Berkeley, CA: Berkeley Federation of Teachers will be holding a lunchtime rally and speak out at Berkeley High (1980 Allston Way, Berkeley, CA 94704) in support of Seattle teachers and against standardized testing. Teachers will also be talking about building support for our contract campaign.
  • Chicago, IL: More Than A Score Chicago will be petitioning at 30 schools against high-stakes testing
  • Denton, TX: Tabling and petition drive
  • Los Angeles, CA: Teachers at UTLA area meetings will be wearing red and taking solidarity photos
  • Portland, OR: Student Unions of Portland Opt Out Press Conference, Blanchard Education Service Center (PPS HQ 501 N. Dixon) at 7:00am Wednesday February 6th
  • Rochester, NY: Local Rochester supporters will be leafleting the Rochester “State of the Schools” address that is taking place on Wed. 1/6. We hope to reach out to others in the Rochester community who support the Garfield High Teachers and build local allies to sustain the struggle against the standardization and privatization of our children education.
  • Seattle, WA: Chief Sealth High School, 2600 SW Thistle St, Seattle, WA 98126, Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 3:20 p.m.  Meet in the front of the school and wear red!
  • Seattle, WA: Garfield High School, 400 23rd Ave, Seattle, WA 98122, Wednesday, Feb. 6 at 12:00 p.m.  Teachers and others will be holding a speak out at the Garfield steps at noon.  Wear red and come show your support!

      • We have received lots of messages from individuals saying that they will be wearing red and talking to people about the boycott. The events listed here are the public events that we know about so far. If you don’t see one for your city, feel free to pick a location to meet and we’ll post it!
